Where the heck am I?

Transnistria!!! Where you say. It is a small province in between Moldova and the Ukraine. Most of the world does not recognize Transnistria as a country, therefore at the border control they were not even allowed to stamp our passports.  It is a communist country, similar to China. They mainly speak Russian, yet Romania is spoken as well.

We give our passports to the border attendant, he is very curious as to why twelve Americans are going into his country. As soon as we think we are in the clear, he gets on the bus and tells everyone he would like a minute with the Americans and tells everyone else to get off. I’ll admit, I was a little nervous.

Come to find out, he was just curious, as anyone else. Wanting to learn more about the crazy Americans traveling out of a backpack, and why we are doing this. We were able to tell him that we are missionaries, and that we just want to serve the people of Transnistria. He practiced his English with us and then we were on our way.

We are not at our main contact, in a little country village. We are living with a family that has ten children. Only six are currently here, but that is plenty. This month we are all sleeping in one room on our mats. Last time we did this was Malawi. Yesterday morning breakfast consisted of fresh milk, cheese, bread, and butter all from the neighbors. Everything we eat is straight fromthe ground or cow! Yum!

Our ministry this month is to help out where ever we are needed. The family needs help around the property, as well as cooking and cleaning in the house. We will also over our help to neighbors, to create community and interaction to show Christ. The family doesn’t know English so it has been a lot of charades so far. This morning Peter one of the young boys, reenacted the fact that I will blow up the house if I boiled water the wrong way, then he pointed his finger at me and said “tisk tisk” and continued to laugh. We will begin English classes today with the family and some of us will go teach at the church tonight.

Month 10!! It is going to be great! The Lord has big plans, and I am so blessed to apart of this family for the month! Thank you again for all your prayers and support! Please continue to pray for my team as well as myself to stay present in these next two months with home drawing near. The Lord has us here for a reason and we want to remain present and obedient to His will. Thank you again! God Bless!
