This July marks the 3rd year since I declared myself a Christian. Some people call this process "born again." According to World Race rules, you must be at least 21 to go on the race. By the "born again" logic, I'm 3 years old, meaning I don't qualify. I'm joking… sorta.

Before I applied to the World Race, heck before I even volunteered with the youth ministry at my church, I struggled with the question – "Am I spiritually experienced enough to do this?" I don't know how many of you became a Christian during adulthood, but there are a LOT of extreme ups and downs. Not from doubting belief, rather from not knowing how to do simple things like pray or turn to God when I'm upset or tempted (hey, I said simple not easy). Most Christian children grew up learning about God and the bible, while I received a crash course at 21.

Well, here I am at 24, knowing as much about the bible as the middle school kids I work with. Just sitting here, thinking about when I asked the question "Am I spiritually experienced enough for this?" and hearing the calming, clear, and heart-filling voice that replied "Go, Michael. Go do what I have created you for, and use the tools I have given you. For I will be with you, to guide and protect you."

I may not know all the stories in the bible or have mission experience, but I know when I am called by God. I also know that the only answer is "YES!"

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you."
