Learning what I had learned from the last two days, it was
like things just clicked on the third day. We did go to a different hospital.
It was better (apparently one of the top 2), but still nothing close to what
sick and suffering people need.

We set out to the first room. It was a room full of women. I
didn’t realize it, but the atmosphere was so much easier for me to be in. I met
some great women and I was able to love on these ladies.

I met Christina. She is a hairdresser. I told her I was
thinking about braiding my hair and asked her if she thought it would look good
on me. She giggled and said yeah. Then I told her she had better get to feeling
better because I was going to call her and have her do it for me. I said that I
was leaving at the end of the month, so she better heal up well before that!
She laughed and said ok and gave me her number. This weekend I’m going to call
her and set up an appointment with Christina to braid my hair! Her laugh made
me realize something else: laughter is the best medicine. So that was my new
line to all the ladies. Also, smiles are contagious (thanks for that one mom).

I met Rose Mary with a tumor in her throat. She was in
excruciating pain. We pleaded with the Lord to heal her and take away the pain.
I’ll tell you the cool part of Rose Mary in the next blog.

I met Joyce. She seemed to be rather sad and down to be sick
(could I blame her? No). One of her family members was the only Christian that
was with her. I encouraged her to love on her family and that she was the only
Christ that they would be able to see. Then I made a few jokes about myself to
make Joyce laugh. I told her to smile more because it’s good for her heart and it
would heal her faster. I prayed for her and then she asked if I would come back
to visit her the next day. We were coming back to that same hospital the next
day, so I said yes (then prayed that it would go over with Pastor and my
translator).  I was really excited
to see my new friend Joyce the next day.

The other women I met, I just really connected with. And
because of the promise I had made Joyce, I was so excited to go back and visit
them all again…
