After more than 26 hours on 5 flights this past week (along with countless other forms of transportation), we finally arrived in Malaybalay, Philippines. It’s crazy going from a 1 or 2 hour time difference to a 13 hour time difference from back home. It really has made me aware of how different everything is here. I love a lot of the culture already and am so excited about our new ministry opportunity. We are paired up with 4 other teams right now at an Christian children’s home.

We have around 25 kids at the children’s home and they range from 1 to 11 years old. One of the many things we get to do while we are here is watch, play, and tutor the kids. At any given moment, there is always at least 2 people from our teams with the kids (24 hours a day). We are also helping to plant a soccer field in front of the building where the kids stay, and are beginning a lot of other projects as well.

Another neat aspect of this ministry is that we have a lot of opportunities to go out into the community as well and serve there. Things like prison ministry or small group ministry is available for us to take part in, as well as anything else we feel God calling us to do in this area. God’s provision is so sweet and He has been so faithful in this transition to Asia for us.
