It has been simply amazing being here and getting to know the community of El Tizate this past week. I am blown away about how thankful they are for what they have. If differs so much from how we feel in the states. We think we are thankful for something when we have a lot of things, but what about when we don’t have much at all? How much more thankful are we for food and water and shelter when that is all we have? These are questions that have been racing through my mind these last few days. God has allowed me to become uncomfortable in my surroundings to show me how to be thankful for everything I have.

Our team went to church today at our ministry contact’s church and that pastor kept asking “Que tienes?” which means “What do you have?” He kept saying this in relation to the stories of Jesus feeding the thousands in all four Gospels. Even when Jesus was presented with a few loaves and fish, he multiplied them and made an abundance. I know that’s what God can do with all of our gifts, no matter how small or insignificant we think they are…that’s really what God has been teaching me lately as well.

I want to be “listo para Cristo” or “ready for Christ” all the time. I want to be ready to answer Him and say yes I will follow You here, even if it doesn’t sound like that completely makes sense. I want to be bold with my faith and not let my own personal comfort get in the way of what God is calling for my life. I am only a week into this yearlong journey right now, and feel so incredibly blessed by God’s generosity and mercy.
