As we are wrapping up our time in Ghana, I would like to share with you a few tidbits of the, umm…interesting things here.

1.    Here in Ghana, more than anywhere else I’ve been, people have been calling me “Jesus.” It’s not even just the little kids like normal…it’s everybody. It’s crazy. These people have seen far too many paintings of white Jesus. Even the pastors in the organization we are working with have actually taken to calling me “Junior Jesus.” Talk about having a reputation to live up to!
2.    …If they aren’t calling me Jesus, people tend to call me Osama bin Laden. There is no happy medium.
3.    The national beer of Ghana? Guinness. It’s bizarre until you remember that they were colonized by Britain, and then…well then it’s still bizarre. I don’t think of Third World Africans drinking Guinness; do you?
4.    The women here are, to be frank, “large and in charge!” Wooo buddy, all I say to them is “Yes ma’am!” and “Oh yes, dinner was great! Thank you so much!”
5.    I would estimate that approximately 80% of the shops and stores here in Ghana have some Christian-ish title to them. They are completely ridiculous and have no direct relation to anything they sell (with the exception of “God of Power Electrical Shop”). Some of my other favorites are King of Kings Fast Food, Manifestation Internet Cafe, and my personal favorite: The Lord Is My Shepherd Lubricant.

Fellow Racers, feel free to add some more fun tidbits from your time here!
