This wall was one of the first things we noticed about the village we are currently living in. And once we learned that behind this wall lived numerous kids who are mentally handicapped, the quote made even more sense.

We’ve been blessed to visit MEHAYO twice. On our first visit, we took a tour of the facilities, led by the mama that runs the place and some of the wonderful kids who held our hands throughout the entire time. And then, we simply got to play. There is a small playground with a swing, a slide and a small trampoline.

It was incredibly freeing to walk into a place with no agenda, no program we had to run, no sermon we had to give. All that was expected of us was to love these kids. Sometimes that includes pushing them on a swing, letting them lead you around the small campus, or jumping with them on the trampoline.

It’s simple and free and full of joy. And while we may walk away tired, we all walk away smiling.
