Team lovebound is safe and sound, on the ground, listening for the sound (of God's voice) and turning frowns upside-down in Costa Rica! We're with Team Prisma this month…and we're the first World Race teams to work with 6:8 Ministries (who are crazy awesome and full of love by the way! We're definitely blessed to get to join in and work with them!!)
We're living in a house in Eskazu, Costa Rica (a suburb of San Jose, Costa Rica) and are doing most of our
ministry in the town of Alajuelita, Costa Rica…which is a 10 minute walk and a ten minute bus ride away from us. We'll be doing all kinds of stuff this month. We're helping at a feeding center, feeding addicts and local homeless folks in need of a hot meal and Jesus' love. We're doing some small medical trips into the neighborhood trying to help meet some smaller medical needs of residents we're able to address. Some of the girls may get the chance to speak with prostitutes (which is legal here) in the hopes of sharing Christ and his love with them. We'll also work with kids, helping to feed them and love on them. We'll also possibly be working with the men from a men's recovery house the church has going. Oh, and teaching English!
But Holy Spirit might have more, or different stuff for us to discover here, and so we're open and asking for that. For Him to lead our time, to work through us, to bring transformation and love to this place.
Alajuelita is apparently one of, if not the, poorest towns/neighborhoods in all of Costa Rica. It's a place in desperate need of Christ, his love, redemption, grace, strength, light, peace, patience, justice, mercy and compassion. 6:8 Ministreis has been operating here for about 5 years (I think?) and are truly a light in a dark place. We're jumping in head first, ready to share all of Christ within us with the people here.
Photos of that to come as the month progresses.
In Other News:
There's a shift happening with S-Squad right now. We just came off four days of "debrief" in Granada. It's a time to meet with our squad leaders, our coaches and the squad to process the first two months, to seek rest, to pray, to recharge, to build stronger connections among one another, to prepare for the next months ahead. Our time together was incredible. From laughter to tears Holy Spirit had a lot going on. The whole time,I began to sense from hearing the words of our coaches and squad leaders, along with sensing from Holy Spirit that a shift was occurring. That our time going forward from now was going to be different, deeper. I sense more authority being released in the squad, more boldness to step out with our spiritual giftings, more healing and restoration, more faith, a stronger sense of service, a greater desire to be entertwined with Holy Spirit and TO SEE HIM MOVE IN THE WORLD!
A shift is definitely happening, even within team lovebound and I am thrilled and anxious to see what God will do. My spirit is alive and tingling at the thought. (You're "Spidey Senses" are nothing compared to this Spider-man. Also..anyone think it's a bit odd I'm speaking directly to a fictional character that will never read this?)
In Other Other News….here are just a few photos I snagged in Granada. I didn't have any real time to just walk the city streets with camera in hand. Which is the perfect excuse to go back to Granada sooner rather than later! Love you guys!!!
