Hi… I’m Logan Brendel and this is my first blog.
â€¨I was born and raised in Santa Rosa, California for twenty- one years.  I moved up north to Chico, California a few years ago to attend school and work. I grew up in a Christian home with two brothers and sisters who are some of my best friends. Though I grew up in a Christian home and had great parents for role models I never developed a personal relationship with God.  When I got to high school I completely put God on the back burner and jumped head first into the fire.  Everything was confusing through high school and I found myself barely passing.  I didn't care about my life at all. I just wanted to get out of school and never go back.  It was then I had decided I needed some perspective on life. I always loved the thought of traveling out of the country so my best friend and I grabbed our backpacks and went around Europe for a couple of months.  After Many great adventures and my bank account on empty, it was time to get back to the U.S., go back to work, and move out of my parent’s house.

I moved out and lived the next couple year’s from place to place, in Santa Rosa not getting anywhere and feeling very unfulfilled.  I felt like I needed a change. I had this sudden urge to get back into school and try to see if there was a career out there that seemed fitting.  A couple close friends where enrolled at Chico State and I thought it would be just a fine place to get a start.

After getting to Chico and not finding work for a few months, and not sure I could eat a quesadilla for lunch and dinner for another day, I finally got a phone call for a job opening, which ended up being a total blessing in disguise. I started working for a fabrication and welding shop.  They build Walnut and Pecan harvesting equipment.  The company Wizard Mfg., had just been bought by a new owner who I later found out was a Christian man. I was hired as a shop guy just mainly organizing and running to pick up parts.  When the first summer came and school was out, my boss decided to throw me into the mix and see if I could build with my hands.  I had never welded or fabricated anything in my life and needless to say I was doubtful of my ability.
â€¨It has been three years now and I have not only learned how to fabricate and weld, my boss has given me the opportunity to learn all the areas of the business.  It has been an awesome experience and I am really grateful for everything I have been taught and given.  Through all this though I was still living for myself.  I was starting to slow down and look around to finally see where my life was heading, and I was a mess.  I was at war with myself and couldn't stand to think about the things I have done and whom I was inside.

Knowing my boss's door is always opened, one day I went into his office feeling very awkward and told him about the problems I was having in life.  Before going in I had the preconceived notion he would direct me to the Bible, which I knew I didn't want to hear.  I was hoping he would have some real helpful intelligent human advice, not "God talk", but when I went in and the door shut it was as if my entire attitude shifted. Without notice, a rush of emotions came bursting out of me that only could be interpreted as sobbing cries of a person beaten and tired. I felt so broken down inside that I cried sounds when trying to make words.  It was then that my boss prayed for me and suggested I try a life change and ask the Holy Spirit into my life.  That was in January 2011(I have a terrible frame of time), and since I began my relationship with God, I have felt a calmness come over me and felt a sincere urgency to do his work.
That's where the World Race came about, 11 countries, 11 months, count me in.  This is exactly what I have been looking for, and I can't believe that God is so good.  I can't wait to get it started and to meet my teammates for the next year. â€¨â€¨
