Currently it is 10am and I am sitting on a deflated sleeping pad, in the living room of a small African house, in a village in Lesotho (can’t pronounce the name), and just finished reading Crazy Love (an awesome book by Francis Chan that y’all should all check out); and I am at a loss for words. I want you to understand the challenging lessons God has taught me during the past month of living in South Africa with the squad being all together, and I want you to know how hard it was waking up yesterday morning without some of the people I have spent the past 4 months with 24/7. But I also want you to know how extremely excited I am to be in this exact place, in this moment, and that God has already been making a way for my team in ways I cant even begin to comprehend.

On December 1st my squad made the 13 hour bus ride from the missions school in South Africa that we have been staying at all of November, to our new destinations in Lesotho with our brand new teams. I am absolutely in love with my new group of 6 rad gals: Mallory (you may remember her from my last team), Miriam, Kyndal, Madison, Kat, and me 🙂 We came up with the team name “Reckless Abandon” because we have decided to abandon any preconceived ideas about women that we have put on ourselves or that the world has told us that we should be, and come together recklessly and boldly, as daughters of the King, and take ownership of what He says about us, and what he has called us into these next two months. Also living as a missionary in Africa, we are abandoning comforts that many consider necessities, and instead, relying on God to give us what we actually need. Dying to our own wants, and trusting that he will provide for us. Today is only day 2 of living the Lesotho life, but I can honestly say that sleeping on an inflatable sleeping pad and doing life without wifi couldn’t feel more right.

Our ministry host, Lineo, has such a huge heart for youth, girls, and orphans, I am so honored to come along side her and serve in any way possible. We have heard that we will be partnering with a youth center and an orphanage near by. I have no clue what this will look like but we will figure out shortly! I am so expectant of what God is doing in and through us here, and I would like to encourage you to keep me and my team in your prayers as there is always a spiritual battle going on around us.

P.S. It feels like summer in GA here, so enjoy your snow and bonfires while I continue to chase summer for the next 9 months 🙂 Oh and there were sheep in my backyard yesterday, never a dull moment
