I am thankful for this moment while typing this blog and how I got here. I am in Copperhill Tennessee at training camp for the World Race and the place is beautiful. When I arrived here I was a little apprehensive I did not know what to expect or how this whole training thing was going to pan out. I am happy to say that training camp has confirmed all the more that this is what I will be doing for the next year of my life; sleeping in tents, playing soccer in the wet grass, living in unfamiliar places, surrounded by those who have the same vision, the same heart, eating things that I wouldn't normally eat, packing and unpacking and packing again, living in the moment, and trusting in God on how to get from one moment to the next.
Last night was probably my favorite night of camp thus far. In the middle of worship, other world racers and I were in a tiny cabin far away from civilization and the walls shook from the sound of thunder, the rain fell hard on the roof and the lights turned off. It was powerful and in that instance I felt so alive! I love thunder storms because it usually brings people together, it disrupts plans and leaves room for spontaneity in the schedule. Our squad could not eat outside as we usually do because of the storm so we ate family style in the cabin. It was a good dinner, we had rice, and some type of spicy meat in a bowl. Not my 4th of July meal of choice but good nonetheless. I did, however see some fireworks every night I have been here, so far I am keeping up with some American traditions while I can.
We have been hearing stories from alumni of the World Race and it is amazing to hear what God is doing in the nations! Lives are chaining and I am so excited to be a part of it all. I am pumped for what God is doing this week in training camp and what he has yet to do this next year. I cannot wait to tell you stories of life on the race. This is just the beginning of this Journey so stay tuned for more stories, of adventure, culture, and God!
Thank you for your prayers and support! I have a photo of my team and I in this blog as well, enjoy!
God Bless you all
