Last night for the second time in my life I had my feet washed by a man. You can read about the first time that happened HERE. As my feet were washed (this time) I reflected on that instance, and marveled at how far God has brought me since then. His healing has gone so much deeper in my heart. I am so thankful. I’m always going to be on the path of healing. Even as I’ve reflected today on last night’s events its a little scary to believe and trust in the truth that was spoken over me by the men. Voices in my head say, “But really?” But I am choosing to trust them, to trust God in them, and I am choosing to believe. I answer those voices with, “Yes, really really.”
Dear Men of G-Squad,
Thank you. Thank you for the preparation you put into last night’s Valentine’s Day dinner. I so appreciate your intentionality in planning. Thanks for going to the thrift store and buying world race fancy clothes. Thank you for spelling my name correctly – even capitalizing the A! – on our invitations and place cards. Thank you for decorating with candlelight and flower petals. Thank you for intentionally praying for me. Thank you for listening to what the Holy Spirit has to say about me. Thank you for speaking truth, love, and beauty over me. Thank you for calling me lovely. Thank you for washing my feet and the feet of my sisters with such gentleness and tender care. Thank you for preparing a meal that blew my taste buds away. Thank you for giving me chocolate. Thank you for serenading us. Thank you for escorting us. Thank you for being gentlemen and warriors. Thank you for being my brothers. Thank you for being my friends.
I have a lot of wounds from the men in my life. I have worked through them with God in the past few years. I have forgiven, and God has healed me. Those wounds don’t sting anymore and you are an ingredient in the balm God used to soothe them. Thank you for being a vessel of healing in my life. I am so blessed to know you, serve alongside you, serve you, and be served by you.
with so much love, LeAnn
