- Got my nose pierced in Bangkok.
- Rode in the back of a pick-up truck for hours at a time. In my mind are pictures of eight pairs of legs, of varying size and color, tangled together. And kids asleep all over me.
- Taught the English language to hundreds of Thai children. The first day I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but by the end of the month I felt a lot more confident in it and enjoyed it a lot. On most days I left school exhausted, with my hands covered in chalk and a fulfilled heart.
- Turned 25! My birthday is September 23rd, so this year my 25th fell while I was in Thailand. We had an American style dinner with barbecue chicken, chips, and smores to celebrate.
- Gave away my mandolin. At the start of the month I was thinking about it, wondering about it. Then a small piece on it broke and I couldn’t fix it. So I gave it to Nan and Raem, our host family parents. Nan enjoys learning new musical instruments so he was excited. He’s a lot more handy than me so hopefully he can repair it correctly. I’m considering picking up something new along the way but I’m not sure yet so stay tuned!
- Started learning guitar.
- Learned how to plant rice. Waded through thigh deep mud in a rice paddy. Danced through a rice paddy.
- Mixed concrete and felt like a boss! We laid the foundation for what will be the family’s garage and a bedroom for one of the kids.
- Became a coffee drinker…kind of. Coffee in Thailand is the bomb dot com.
- Shook it out! Our team made a video to Taylor Swift’s new single “Shake it Out” so I did a lot of dancing. The video is gonna be supes cute 😉
- Ate a cricket. It actually wasn’t bad, I almost grabbed another.
Yep. Thailand was fun times! We are in Cambodia now and this month our team is doing Unsung Heroes. That means we will be scouring the country for new contacts for Adventures in Missions. We are looking for people who are doing kingdom work but aren’t really being recognized for it. See? Unsung Heroes. We have been listening to God for direction, literally, and tomorrow we are heading to Kampong Thom to check out a couple leads. It’s pretty exciting!
As always, I am so appreciative of your love and support. I’m still in need of funds to stay on the field so if you are able to donate please do. The easiest way is to click “support me” and follow the instructions to make an online donation. I will also soon be in need of personal money to cover things like toothpaste, deodorant, medicine, etc. This money also covers fun activities with my squad. If you’d like to donate in that way please hand money to my mom Lori (in Waynesburg) or Magan Atwood (in Williamsburg), or make a check payable to me and mail it to
P.o. Box 197, Waynesburg, Ky 40489
thanks so much!
