You’re a missionary. Maybe that doesn’t mean building a school and orphanage in Nepal, or loving and listening to prostitutes who are broken and need the love of Christ in Thailand. It may not mean moving somewhere that is so unfamiliar to you, leaving the people that you love so deeply. But wherever you go, It may look more like being the Light of Christ in your school, work place, home, grocery store, walking down a street. But you’re commissioned to represent Jesus wherever God takes you.

Wherever you are that is your mission field. That is where God has you for a purpose. I will not stop being a missionary when I go home. It is something that is not limited to a certain type of life we live, or job occupation we have or what ministry we do.It is a way of life that as Christians we are called to live. We are called “To make disciples of all nations”

You’re Jesus to that abused child, You’re Jesus is your unsaved boss, You’re Jesus is your troubled teenager neighbor,You’re Jesus to the homeless at the local shelter, You’re Jesus to the grocery store clerk.

I think I sometimes dismiss the commission because it doesn’t seem grand or often reveal visible fruit right then. Sometimes my acts don’t seem very important or effective, but if I’m obedient, then the results are not up to me, but up to Him. And every day poses an opportunity to reach out to those around me, whether through a kind act, encouraging word, generous offering, or heart-felt prayer. Being a follower of Christ means living in a way that is different from this world and being intentional in building relationships with others. With seeking out what God is already doing right now and striving to be more like Christ everyday in our lives.

Wherever you are, God has placed you in a unique position and gifted you to minister to the people around you right where God has called you for that time. What a privilege that God would allow us to join our Maker in showing his creation the great love he has for them. he loves us so much that he wants us to partake in this even though he can do it all by Himself.
