So it has been a while since I wrote a blog. That’s not because I have lacked things to say but I have just been waiting for some of my life’s recent events to be resolved so I had a whole story to tell, but I will save them for later blogs because I don’t want this one to be a short novel.

I am typing this at 9:00 PM on my 21st birthday. I could be out at a bar reveling in my new found alcohol buying powers but I chose to spend my night typing to you. You’re welcome. Actually to be honest if I had it my way I would be out at dinner with my family or doing something a little more fun than typing this blog. Not that I don’t enjoy talking to you all. Let me explain

A week ago God asked me to do two things

A) Not talk to my squad for a whole week. We talk all day every day on Whatsapp (a large group chat) and I love my squad immensely. But I felt like God wanted to show me that he is the reason I’m going the World Race, Not to hang out with them. It’s been hard, and incredibly boring without them but I think its been good for my growth. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all of that stuff. But still I am waiting for midnight to talk to all of them!

B) God asked me to give him my birthday. Now normally this would be fine, I don’t really like parties, birthdays are always cool but never really change anything but the fact that I am assigned a different age number. But 21!?! When God asked me to sacrifice my day for him I kind of giggled and was like “Yeah Ok….really….come on man.” So I didn’t celebrate all day, we had a nice dinner and dessert (desert? Dessert? I never know) but no real festivities. No happy birthday songs, no presents, no inaugural first drink. I sacrificed my day to the lord because he wanted to show me that he is more important than me, he wanted me to show him that I can sacrifice.

All things said and done it was a pretty good birthday and all the festivities will be happening tomorrow.

Not the most profound or exciting blog but it will have to do for now. Thanks for reading!

Oh yeah and my 22nd birthday will be spent in Columbia. Now that is cool
