Here are two completely unrelated thoughts I have about lions… 🙂

***

My team often jokes that we won’t believe we’re really in
Africa until we see a lion. But in fact, we have!

The Lion of the tribe of Judah…
now this Lion we have seen. In some
of the most unexpected moments, He emerges in all His majesty. We are blown
away by the power in His loving gaze. All we can do is stand with our mouths
dropped open and watch Him in amazement. He is the Lion of Judah, and His ways
are Awesome. We are His children, His pack, His pride. He brings us to walk the
barren land with Him, to spread the glory of His Splendor.

Let us run in freedom alongside
our King, having the same appearance as His, allowing Him to fill us with His
mighty roar…

I was watching the Lion King the other day (on a 30+ hour
bus ride from Kampala to Dar es Salaam…eek), and one scene struck me. Simba and
Nala cross out of the pride land and into the territory of the hyenas, a place
where they knew they shouldn’t be. The evil laughing dogs were surrounding
them, about to tear them apart. But Simba knew who his Daddy was. He also knew
that he was weak in his own capacity. The next part gives me chills whenever I
see it… Simba roars. And then he ROARS! When he opens his mouth, his
father fills in the weakness with his might and strength. He is right there to
not only defend his son, but also fight the bad guys for him.

Sometimes we end up in situations where we are about to get
jumped (spiritually). Especially here in Africa, the devil seems to be on the
prowl in such a tangible way… it can be quite daunting. But like Simba, we know
who our Daddy is. And He will always
fight for His cubs. I mean kids. Although we are small and powerless on our
own, in Christ we have power to roar with the fierceness of our Father.

Whenever we open our mouths, I want satan and his demons to
shudder in fear…That all they hear would be the ROAR of the Lion of
Judah…

I love my Lion King.
