This past week was a big week in Budaka! The church we are
working with this month, Cornerstone Church, teamed up with other churches in
the villages within Budaka to put on a crusade each night this week. Each
morning we went to different villages and traveled from hut to hut telling
people of the Good News of Christ.

It was during this time that I think I got culture shock for
the first time in my life. In the way of communication, Ugandans are very
different from Americans. I have never experienced such a loss for
communication than I had this week. I was wondering when culture shock would
hit me, and really, I expected it to be more from a physical difference than a
communicative difference. But when we went around the villages, it was very
hard for me to connect with anyone we talked to. Questions are very un-cultural
here, which made it difficult because I find questions to be great in delving
into things and getting to know what’s on people’s hearts. Despite me and my
lack of Ugandan communication skills, God did do a great work. In the hearts of
many of our listeners, and in my own heart. He totally showed me that it’s okay
that I am not Ugandan in the way I think or talk. It’s okay if I feel a disconnect. It’s not about me
anyway. HE is the one
doing the work. HE knows
what these people need to hear, even when I don’t have a clue. And HE is changing people’s
hearts!

I had never before prayed with someone to accept Christ as their Savior. But this past week, I was able to pray with about 20 people in their homes! Apparently when I malfunction, He uses me the most 😛

The crusades in the evening have been absolutely
awesome. While I can’t understand at all what is being said, I can see
that the Spirit is moving in these places. A witch doctor that the whole
village was scared of came to know Christ. Men and women who are in
polygamous relationships are coming to know Christ. A Muslim man was
healed of back pain that he had been enduring for years when one of the
Pastors prayed for him. Whats more phenominal than physical healing is
that he recieved spiritual healing that night as well. He accepted Jesus
into his life that night and stood on the stage so he could proclaim
his testimony!
