Right now it’s 2:48am in Nairobi, Kenya. I am in Africa! Ridiculous. I can’t really explain what it’s like here. It’s smoky, it’s dirty… it’s beautiful. It feels so surreal to actually be on this great big continent. So far, I’ve mostly only stayed in the confines of our hostel, so I haven’t gotten to see too much yet. In a few hours I’ll be on a bus to Kisumu, the third largest city in Kenya. It’s right on Lake Victoria and that’s where my team will be doing ministry this month!
This past week has been crazy with the Awakening, debrief, team changes, continent changes… there’s been little time to sit in it all and process through things. There was a lot of good stuff that was taught during it all. I can’t even recall what I was doing an hour ago, so I’m not going to try and give an eloquent explanation of what was learned during our sessions. But I am going to jot down a few of the phrases I wrote down in my journal as I took notes from those evenings…
Why do we tend to more often believe the lies of hell instead of the truths of Heaven?

What satan attacks you with is your weapon – take it and smack him back with it! Spirit of fear, I’m not afraid of you. You are the spirit of fear – you’re afraid of me!

We’ve been raised in a generation that teaches us what to think and not how to think.

You weren’t saved to go to Heaven, you were saved to bring Heaven to earth… “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”

The church has been searching for the treasure of the Kingdom, when it’s already buried inside of us.

Jesus allowed them to belong before they believed, accepted them before they were acceptable, and forgave them before they were repentant.

Jesus died that I might die. Jesus rose that I might live.

Questioning isn’t evidence of a weak faith, questioning is a journey to greater faith.

We are not human doings, we are human beings. The greatest thing in life we can do is just be in intimacy with the Father.

If you can’t connect vertically, you can never effectively connect horizontally.

Doing and doing and doing just creates a lot of do do. Once we’ve sat and got to know the Lover, we can know how to love others.

Jesus did as much ministry on the way as He did when He got there.

These are some of the many points that really resonated within me and opened my mind to some things I had never thought about before. A special prayer request I have for right now is for me to spend some much needed time alone with the Lord. I feel like I’m being attackied more than ever at this time, and it’s no wonder… God’s broken the chains of fear that I had been walking in for so long, and I bet that caught the devil off guard. Since he now knows that I know that I have authority over fear, he’s attacking in other ways. “The enemy will do anything he can to rob you of just being still and knowing who your Daddy is.” As we enter Africa, I am especially aware of the schemes of the devil because I know he is not happy with us being here. He knows we mean Kingdom business and that God’s going to do mighty things through us for this nation. Let us not grow weary, the battles just begun. It’s 3:32am now. The rooster just started crowing. Good morning, Africa. Let’s do this.
