I’m a people watcher.

This may seem creepy, but it’s what I do 😛

It seems that everything interesting in my life happens within the four walls of a coffee house. People watching is something that I always do when I’m by myself sipping on my chai. If I were to do this in a restaraunt, or sit in my car and stare, that would just not be right. Borderline sketchy actually. But for some reason, Starbucks just makes everything ok 🙂

There is something oddly enchanting about people when you don’t interact with them, but just observe. I could watch some people all day and never get bored. Those who are by themselves are the ones that really catch my eye. I can’t help but wonder what their stories are. I saw this older gentleman in Starbucks today. He was such a precious old man, with big round glasses propped up on his nose. He was reading a newspaper as his wrinkled, happy eyes bounced about the pages. His delicate eyelids blinked every so often. His nice khaki pants turned into high waters as he crossed one knee over the other. People are just so cute! Watching this man as he breathed in and out, just living life, made me fall more in love with our good God.

Let me explain… When we are still, something wonderful happens. Something divine. In this life, I find it hard to be still. We are such a fast paced society and thats just the way it is. But God really shows Himself to me when I sit and do nothing. I am a visual person, so I can’t help but look around at the people He created.  I realize the immense detail in each person, and just how precious they are. It also revives my hope for the world. Last night I saw another elderly man; fragile looking, he had a slight limp on one leg. My heart smiled as I saw his arm being gently guided by a young, hip dude. He had to be in his early 20’s and it was so encouraging to see this young person spending an evening with his loved one. They strolled along, in no hurry or care for what was going on around them. I could tell they were both treasuring the time they shared. What a treat it was to view this in a society where kids seem to careless about the generations who came before them. Seeing scenes like this, people like this, reminds me that this is still God’s world and love wins.

[I promise I won’t mention coffee/starbucks in every blog of mine] hehe.
