I feel the rich moist soil under my bare feet and a swift rush of wind through my tangled hair. I draw for a long deep breath. The air is sweet and replenishes the ache in my lungs. My heart is pounding out of my chest as I run with all my might and I can barely contain the joy as it thrusts me further down the pathway. The sunlight cascades a radiate glow through the sunflowers that tower over head. A smile sweeps across my face and I brush my hands along the leaves that collide along my path. Clothed in a simple white sundress with embellishments of lace and pearl, I press forward to the end of the sunflower row.
Off in the distance I see Him. He is slightly blurry in the horizon but my heart skips in the delight of a quick arrival. I push myself harder now. I’m so eager my feet cannot catch up to the pace of my heart. I pull back the final sunflower as it hangs below. Like a veil lifted over my eyes, there He was. Jesus.
I run straight into His open arms and He catches me with a strong embrace. He wraps me in His arms and softly kisses my damp forehead. I bury my face into his chest and squeeze my arms tightly around His waist.
In that moment, He whispers “Oh how I love you so, my Beloved.”
I close my eyes and feel the comfort soak deep into my soul.
I’ve been having this vision for the last four months on the race. It is so vivid. I can taste the air and feel the texture of the dirt. I squint my eyes from the sun over head. It is an incredibly clear and beautiful depiction of how Jesus sees me.
I am pure. I am delightful. I am beautiful.
Jesus looks at each of us as His Beloveds. What are you waiting for? Run with all your heart to the end of the sunflower row. He’ll be there to catch you.
