Let me start off by saying the World Race has quickly broken my small Arkansan bubble. I have been thrown into another dimension I’ve never experienced before. I’ve heard about a great battle out there. A battle of light and darkness, a war for the kingdom. Well the Lord sent me right in the thick of this battle. Let me share with you what our team here in Draganesti, Romania have been up against and you’ll soon find out what I mean.
Yesterday, my teammate and I were heading to a small village to do kids club. We took time to prepare games and a bible story of Noah’s Ark. When we arrived at the village we were very surprised to see no kids were at club while the week before there were over 30 kids that attended. We waited and waited then a elderly man came and told us that the kids weren’t going to come. The village leaders told the families and kids that we were evil people. They were spreading rumors that we eat children and partner with bad spirits. I couldn’t believe it! We came to share the love of Christ and quickly these leaders were casting out the light we wanted to bring. The giant spirit within me began to rise and I knew darkness was over this village. Satan wanted absolutely nothing of Jesus in this place and was trying to scare the people away from Christ. It shows how incredibly powerful our God is. The darkness was extremely heavy and we came with a bright presence. It was war.
I looked at James and we both rose from our chairs. We knew the greatest weapon against darkness is prayer and declarations. We walked up and down the streets. I was making declarations over the village. I was telling the enemy who was the greatest authority. This is a holy ground.
After our furious prayers we walked back and noticed a few kids had showed up but no where near the amount they were use to having at club. We were thankful for the small victories and answered prayers.
I’ve been doing street ministry all month. It has greatly opened my eyes to the dyer needs of the Gospel here in Southern Romania and only 0.2% are Christians. Here the main practice is Orthodox with witchcraft. They have strange rituals and sacrifices. We had our pastor here share stories of a witch that lived nearby that would try and curse the mission house where we are staying at. It made me laugh. Cleeearly this person doesn’t really know who she’s up against. My Dad is incredible. I often ask people I come in contact with during ministry if there is anything I can pray for them. So many times I get “I don’t have money, I can’t have you pray for me.” Apparently the Orthodox priests in the area require money in order to receive prayers. It is so frustrating to hear when religious leaders have completely destroyed the beautiful message of God.
Its a battle here. The light of Christ isn’t always welcomed. However the Lord has suited me with a great armor and words of authority. It is a complete joy to be a bright light in the darkest of areas. I’ve loved being able to share the Gospel to people young and old. It is so rewarding to see their faces light up and the hearts melt when we encourage them with the love of Jesus. Words just do not do justice to the amazing things that are happening here!
