I have rarely been in a “church building” since being on the WR. The majority of our church services are held in someone’s home, under a structure on their property, in a school, movie theater, or simply wherever we happen to meet our brothers and sisters in Christ. So many people think they need to “get their lives together” before going to church, but what they forget is THEY ALREADY ARE THE CHURCH. Everywhere we go we are The Church and the body of Christ. None of us will ever be perfect, the only perfect person to ever walk this Earth was Jesus Christ. But I have experienced some perfectly life changing moments while gathering as The Church over the past 8 months.
To be honest with you, I had never shared the gospel or led anyone to Christ before leaving for the WR. And let me tell you, just because I’m on a mission trip does not change the nerves I feel before sharing the gospel. BUT, there has never been one time when the Holy Spirit has not moved when I have been used by Him to speak His love and truth. Something I will never forget for the rest of my life is the look in a child’s eyes…the way they light up when I tell them about my best friend and how He wants to be their best friend too! I wish I had the words to explain to you what I see, but I don’t. Nothing I could ever say would be worthy of explaining the way the Holy Spirit moves when He captures the heart of a child. It’s simply amazing. It’s new brothers and sisters. It’s sharing the same best friend for the rest of our lives no matter where we live.
It’s love.
