Travelling and ministry can be totally glorified when all you see are the pictures of the amazing experiences, but when you are living in a foreign place for a whole nine months, there is no way that every day can be Bill and Ted’s most excellent adventure. Like today, for example, I am sick in bed. My head feels like it will explode and it is 100 degrees outside. I feel completely useless, and I feel like I am missing out on awesome opportunities to help others. Lying here, I have realized that more often God calls us to serve others in not so glorified ways, and that’s okay. Like un-dreading your squad mate’s hair for hours. Like Jaimie making me juice out of some weird fruit she bought because she wanted me to get some vitamin C. Like Kristen writing me a feel better note. Like Marita offering to walk the four flights of stairs to fill my water for me. Whether you’re at home or abroad, my squad mates have shown me that not every moment has to be awe inspiring for it to make a difference, or show someone love.
