18 days until the first anniversary of typhoon yolanda, and it’s amazing to see the progress we have made on the property. Each of the four teams here have been doing three, right hour days of construcction a week. The once rocky terrain is ready to lay sod for a playground and volleyball area. The rusty fence is now completely derusted, repainted, shiny and metallic. The stone wall is almost complete. The driveway went from gravel to concrete. We have dug, bagged, picked rocks, painted, derusted, poured concrete, carried, hacked, jack hammered (yes I used a jack hammer haha), sweat and cried and bled and so much more in the blistering, Filipino sun and it has probably been one of my favourite ways of helping around here. It is so nice to be able to see hard work pay off, and I can’t wait to see the before and after of ours and the Filipinos labour come the anniversary of Yolanda. On the anniversary they plan to dedicate the Lighthouse building to helping the people of Tacloban, and hold events centered on remembering typhoon yolanda, grieving it, and starting new beginnings. Please pray for energy, health and shade so we can complete everything before that time.
