“Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you  live in Christ Jesus.” –Phillipians 4: 6-7

Over the last couple of weeks, I had forgotten about these words. I have been stressed to the max. I’ve been shopping for the gear I need, making immunization appointments, planning fundraisers, and last week I started my last semester of university. I had almost lost sight of why I was doing all of this. I was focusing so much on what I had to do that I was not completely leaving it all in God’s hands.

But on Sunday I found an envelope in my mailbox with a financial donation and a beautiful letter. It was from one my girls from church. A couple of years ago, she was one of my youth, but she has since graduated and our friendship has continued. She is an amazing woman of God, somebody whom I respect and admire greatly.

In this letter, she wrote out the verse above, Phillipans 4: 6-7. It really made me pause and think. Am I really living out this verse? Am I really casting off my worries and giving them all to God in prayer? No, I haven’t. I’ve been letting my stress get to me.

This morning on the bus I let it all go. I prayed for almost the entire commute to school, and just let everything go. I followed the advice in the verse, and told God my worries and thanked Him for what He has done. And I am feeling so much better. I’ll be completely honest in these blogs, so I’ll admit I am still a little stressed, but hey, I’m human. But I am so much more at peace now.

I think this is a verse that we all need to remember sometimes. We all get so caught up in life that sometimes its easy to forget to include God in everything, even the little things. And I want to thank the beautiful girl who reminded me of that this week.
