Hello!!! I’m Katie, and I’m supposed to be telling you all a little about me, so here goes!
I am 22 years old, and am just finishing my degree at the University of Alberta. I am in Environmental and Conservation Science, majoring in Conservation Biology. I currently live in Beaumont, Alberta, just outside of Edmonton.
· My family is so important to me. My parents are amazing, and my sister is my best friend. My extended family is wonderful, too. My Dad’s family is in England, so I don’t see too much of them, but I miss them so much. My mom’s family is in Alberta, most of them within an hour drive. We get together quite a bit, and I’ll just say this about them: if you’re slightly crazy, obsessed with fishing, can play board games for two days straight, and love to laugh, you’ll fit in fine with my family. I’ll miss you guys!
Then there is the other side of my family. Three families that have become so close that we are pretty much one, the Gernuttsons. These guys are my family, even if not technically related. I have grown up with them, sharing everything from camping trips to new babies, and everything in between.
I also love my youth. While I am not going to be as involved with the youth program as much this year, I still love those guys so much! I was a leader for the last couple of years, and I feel so blessed to have been able to hang with them every week, and see them grow, both physically and spiritually. Our group went to an International Youth Convention in Orlando, Florida, this summer, and the passion I witnessed in my group was truly amazing! (By the way guys, if anyone has a decent group photo, email me please!).

- Although I’ve never done missions work before, I love to travel
- Playing the piano is one thing that can always relax me
- My dad’s backyard is my oasis – so peaceful and beautiful
- My favorite verse (today) is Galatians 1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God. For if I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
It hard to summarize my life in one blog, but I don’t want this to be the blog that never ends so I’ll just leave with this: I am so excited for this upcoming trip. I know that this is exactly where God wants me to be going right now. As for my new team, I am so excited to meet you guys! See you soon!!!
