I had been hearing about a song called “Oceans” by Hillsong. When I first heard the song I did not understand all the words she was saying but I thought it was pretty. However, a friend of mine sent me a link to the acoustic version of the song. I listened then I looked up the lyrics. It finally hit me why so many were talking about this song.

The words hit me and it became a prayer for me. I listened to the song over and over. I had a dream last night that I was at the bottom of the ocean. As I looked up I saw a bright light. Waves and riptides kept hitting me and trying to pull me down as I was fighting to swim up. I finally broke through and ended up on the beach. I felt the sand beneath me, but I could not see anything, not even myself, because the brightness of the light was so bright. Then it ended.

“What does it mean?,” my friend asked after I described the dream. I think it means I may have listened to ‘Oceans’ too many times yesterday OR that as we go through life many things try to knock us down and keep us from God, but He is still there. He is the light reaching down to us and visible even in the darkest of times. However, at the end of this life here on this earth we will be with God in His perfect light and heavenly place. We will be surrounded by His light so much that our self-centeredness is obsolete. I believe that could even ring true for us here on the earth too. As we strive to dwell with God and He in us, ourselves are no longer visible, but only God and His light. It overcomes all; the trials, temptations, and sorrows. However, we must trust in God in every circumstance. I believe it means both of these.

How many of us can honestly say that all our trust and hope lies in God? Are you overcome by His light? Where is that place He will lead you where your trust is without boarders?

Here are the lyrics to the song and video link. May they be a prayer for you as well. I would love to hear what they mean to you.

“Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)”

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine
