This is my last month in Africa—we’re in Busia, Uganda on the border of Kenya. We can walk and be in Kenya in 15 minutes. The past week has been a time for fasting and prayer for the church. Its something we've invested in– but it's been a week to grow much closer with my team and a week to get domestic in my cooking skills! We've had a sweet taste of village life!
What I'm learning–
I'm learning a lot about LOVE. And what that looks like when you give it your all– 24/7. I've learned a lot about this throughout my life– but it always has a way of showing through. About listening to God. And His Faithfulness!
Kyle and I had the incredible opportunity to play our guitars with the worship leaders at church on saturday in prep for leading worship for the Sunday service. The church is literally tree branches with a tin roof. It made all of life seem so simple. It strips away our ideas of "needing" so many things to make a church– and truly shows you that "we are the church."
It was one of my favorite times of this past week because–
a) I love playing the guitar & playing with others
b) it was worship — a time to rejoice, a time to sing, a time to praise
c) we got to hear Ugandan's pronounce our english words in melodies. (so maybe a little entertaining, too!)
There are African huts right outside the wall around our home– so yesterday afternoon I took advantage of my time in the sweet daylight hours to take some photos of the children.
Emma & I! We painted pictures & walked around the village together.
Doesn’t this make you want to hold their hands? Some are caked with dirt and have tattered clothes
And have smiles and eyes that catch you and leave you at a standstill
You look at these faces and think—nothing but precious, sweet babies that need love, they need Jesus
It's what Heaven must be like, it must have sweet faces such as these
The kingdom is HERE and where we are NOW. Its on the inside– overflowing to the outside.

This month we'll be doing house visits, working with street children and have many opportunities to share the gospel. I hope you will pray with me about our ministry & time here. A lot of street children come from all over and some particularly from the north and have been child soldiers. There's a lot going on in Uganda that a lot of the world is ignorant of. Check out what "Invisible Children" is doing in Uganda and a lot of the uprise here now in the YouTube video posted below.
I look forward to sharing more sweet photos and stories with you soon. THANK YOU so much for FULLY FUNDING me in monthly commitments and generous donations. You are SO appreciated!
I taught Emma how to use my camera. So this is me in my fun new African dress. I think he's got the "rule of thirds" down when it comes to photography!
