12 Things I love about Africa in 2012
If you look at an African Sunset or dance with a small child at church- it might quickly become an indicator of falling In love. I just want you to know my reasons for falling in love with this place!
12. Motor Bike Rides– you feel so free. Makes you want to own one. Its the only way you truly want to get from place to place
(UNLESS)
11.5. You go. . . Mudding in rented vehicles. Another thing we LOVE. Its crazy how FREE you feel to be in a car again. And how sweet it is to be in Rwanda in the mountains during the rainy season
(sometimes the kids standing nearby like the mud puddles too… hence child covered in mud)
11. you may go to a Rwandan soccer game and get to be featured on the big screen. Kyle, Spencer & I were featured on the jumbo tron FOUR times during one of the national games. We felt FAMOUS.
10. the stars– standing like a small child in the midst of HUNDREDS of stars splashed about the night sky like God had taken a handful of glitter and tossed it there. They are beautiful. They're beautiful when you're camping on a safari & they're beautiful when you're shyed away from city lights
9. Dancing in church is the "norm" during worship
8. you’re an instant magnet for child affection–. So much that you might get peed on at church while holding a small child (didn't happen to me, but it definitely happened to my teammate who held the said child, held it away from her and the said child continue peeing which trailed along the church floor)
7. some people have never seen a muzungu (aka- white person, or aimless wanderer) hence crying baby that ran from me
6. having fake hair isn’t weird — I have a weave– its actually MUCH easier to take care of than white girl hair.

5. safaris are like the lion king come to life
4. I adore trees. I am in love with trees and there are A LOT of them here. Rafiki trees are a fav.
3. THere's food here, despite the misconceptions
(spencer even found a frosted flake shaped like AFRICA)
2. African children. I'm obsessed with them.
1. Renewed sense of HOPE. Even in Rwanda– where over 1,000000 people died nearly 20 years ago in genocide– theres a renewed hope. This is a place where there is restoration and redemption. We've seen the mass graves, memorials and heard various stories of the genocide. And this place is still working towards never again letting this place know war.
