It’s finally begun to set in that THIS is my life for the next 11 months. This isn’t another week long mission trip, but an entirely new way of life. The past 10 days have been an incredible experience.
I spent my first week in Santo Domingo with the entire squad as we poured into each others life, went through LOTS of leadership meetings and began adjusting to this crazy lifestyle called the world race. I can’e begin to describe the ways God moved in the lives of those around me this past week in addition to my own.
I wake up every morning not recognizing the man whom God is bringing me up to be. I am walking in the life that He has for me as a warrior for His kingdom. A man who no longer believes the lies the enemy so desperately would have me listen to. While it’s not always easy to die to your old self, it is incredible to see what the creator can accomplish when the creation stops fighting back and allows the maker to sculpt in HIS image.
As launch came to a wrap teams were divided up into two groups. We now have four teams in Haiti, and SEVEN teams living in San Juan, Dominican Republic.
Oh wait, did I mention those 46 people are living in ONE house with only FOUR bedrooms! I’m wishing I had some video cameras, because it seems like it would make great reality television! It’s pretty much Big Brother: minus relationships, air conditioning, and space.
We are all in charge of cooking for ourselves and cleaning in la casa, and on a VERY limited budget!! haha
The other leaders and I are definitely stepping into these coats as we learn what it takes to try and manage a house and big family! Every single person pitches in with cooking and cleaning as things get dirty pretty quick with open windows to combat the heat!!
Although our introverts might be going a little stir crazy, I’m loving every minute of it so far! THIS IS COMMUNITY! It’s messy, hard, and a whole lot of fun!
Tomorrow we start working my team, Z’Man, will be headed out to an agricultural community to work alongside the people and serve them! I’m excited to share with you more what that ministry will looks like in a future post! (Yes, that means you actually have to come back and read it. But just subscribe to the blog on the left of the screen and it will notify you like magic!!!)
Thank you all SO SO much for supporting me in this! I am so excited for what the Lord is doing down here and it would not be possible without every one of you! I am honored to be serving as your steward here in the Dominican Republic!
Kingdom Come,
Joshua
