It took our team about four days to get here. We flew from Atlanta, Georgia to Istanbul, Turkey. Then, from Turkey, we flew into Johannesburg, South Africa. Once we arrived in Johannesburg we took a bus to Maseru, Lesotho. At this point, we were still traveling with the entire squad, but our team along with two other teams were supposed to break off once arriving at the Maseru Mall. Well, we showed up at the wrong mall and it was so late and cold that the roads were too icy and dangerous for us to continue on to Mokhotlong. One of the other teams were staying in Maseru and we met their ministry host at the mall and she allowed our team, the two other teams we were supposed to be with, and the team that was meant to be staying with her to all stay in her house for the evening. She was such a huge blessing. We stayed there with her on our third day of travel, which we were actually supposed to be at our ministry location, Mokhotlong, at this point. The next morning, August 10th, we hiked into town to meet our driver that would take us to our final destination. After seeing the roads, praise The Lord we didn’t attempt that drive the night before. We drove on roads that winded through towns, villages, and snow capped mountains. It was an incredibly beautiful drive.
The team and I have been here in Mokhotlong for about two weeks since the day I’m writing this and it is so evident that God is working here. So far we have been going to two different soup kitchens and the local hospital to preach and pray, attending the nearby churches on Sundays, helping to construct an orphanage, repairing a playground near the church, burying sewage pipes, going on prayer walks around town, preaching at the prison, and speaking at the local primary school and high school. We’ve seen someone’s vision healed, someone’s hearing restored, and many men and women come to Christ. I’ve had the opportunity to preach multiple times, give my testimony, heal the sick, and lead a room full of people in a prayer of salvation. I mention all this to say that God is alive.
I knew that God would be with us on the Race and I didn’t doubt that miracles would happen, but I had a hard time believing that He would use me to do those things. I doubted myself and my faith was lacking. The Lord has certainly shown up here and He is doing a work inside of me. He’s taken me on a journey of overcoming my fears. He is showing me who He says I am. He’s showing me His power and His power in me. He is building up my faith and breaking down the walls I have put up. God doesn’t belong in a box and He is bursting right out of it.
This season of my life I believe God wants me to know that I am a son. He wants me to know how He sees me. I am chasing after a deeper and more intimate relationship with Him. I am beginning to see the fruit that comes from that and I encourage you to do the same. God is turning my world upside down and it is amazing. He has left me in awe more times than I can count just in the short two weeks we have been here. But you don’t have to be in another country for God to work in you and through you. Please, pursue Him more than ever before and do it wholeheartedly. It has been the best decision I have ever made.
Love y’all!
