For a period of a few weeks I was thinking a lot about prayer and intercession. In my mind, I always had the buried thought that prayer was more powerful or effective when I was in the presence of the person or situation I was praying for. Even though I would often be praying for people and situations I was not physically with or in, I was not very motivated to do it.
This was not something I actively thought about or avoided, I just acted on it without really being aware. But when God brought this to the light, He started to work in my heart about how we are called to intercede in prayer. He is patient and He has being revealing truth to me in glorious ways.
He is showing me that prayer is not bound or tied down by anything.
It is not bound by my being physically present with who or what I am praying for.
Prayer is not bound to a room. It is not bound to a city, a town, a state, or a country.
Prayer is not bound to a sitting position, a standing position, a walking position, or a face down on the floor position.
Prayer is not bound to words, silence, it is not bound to thoughts.
Prayer is not bound by fear or insecurity, it is not bound by discomfort or anxiety.
Prayer is not bound by lack of knowledge or wisdom, it is not bound by any lack or insufficiency at all.
Prayer is not bound because God is not bound. He takes our prayer and accomplishes His will with it.
Prayer is not bound because it is by the power of God that prayer is transformed.
Prayer is transformed to healing, it is transformed to prophecy and tongues.
Prayer is transformed to worship and the exalting of the name of Jesus.
Prayer is transformed by God to revival, it is transformed to redemption.
Prayer is transformed by the Lord of Hosts into strength and power to line up His heavenly armies to defeat the enemy in a battle that is not visible.
It is transformed into the manifestation of the Spirit of God on earth.
Prayer goes beyond our lips, it goes beyond our words, it extends beyond what our human minds could even hope for our prayer.
Prayer is not encapsulated, it is not chained, it is not stagnant, but it is moving and being transformed by our Mighty God into love, into salvation, into joy.
Prayer is being transformed into the lives of people that we may never meet and into nations we may never enter.
There is no rule or limit to where God may take and use our prayer because it is not bound. Prayer is not tied down in any capacity, that is how great our God is.
