last week a few of us girls were outside then all of the sudden there was thousands of ants crawling up our wall. So we came inside to try to figure out where they were going and they were coming into our bathroom. I decided to spray them with bug spray, which just made them scatter. Since that plan clearly didn't work Drea and I decided to squish all that we could, but we were severely outnumbered. Then Erica and Sebastian, 2 of the Nicaraguans, came in with a toxic spray to kill all the ants, and sprayed down our bathroom. We had to leave our room while we waited for the smell of the spray dissipated. We assumed the problem was fixed and we went to eat. When we returned we checked the bathroom and it was clear, but then we looked above our door and there were hundred of ants with something in their mouths and they weren't moving. We thought maybe they were all dead, but to be sure Luke decided to set a couple on fire. Well they weren't dead and they all began to fall off the wall and scatter around the room. So the boys started squishing them with shoes. Then Erica came back in and she had a bunch of paper with her, now we weren't sure what she was planning on doing. All of the sudden she lit the paper on fire and started waving it around killing all the ants. However, in the process she almost caught a chair and our door on fire. So some people had shoes, some had fire, some were screaming, and the rest of us were laughing. It was complete and utter chaos, luckily 2 people got the whole event on video. Then yesterday I came up from doing laundry and everyone is taking things out of the boys room. I figured they were just cleaning so I went up to see if they wanted some help. When I approached I was informed that the boys had an ant infestation. They had to remove almost all of the boys stuff and take it outside to name it out, because the ants were all over their stuff. So I went into the room to help them and when I walked in there were thousands of ants of every shape, size, and color crawling out of every crevice in the room. We were spaying them with ant killer, using shoes to squish them, and Angela, one of the other Nicaraguans, had chlorox she was putting on the walls and floors. In the meantime we were still taking the boys stuff outside to shake out the ants. Yet again it was very chaotic, but also extremely entertaining. So these are the battles that lead to the Great Ant Massacre of 2012 in Nicaragua.  Also if you are considering going on the world race but you hate bugs and creepy crawlers then may I urge you to seriously think about it, because this is an extremely common event. Just a little bit of advice.
