So I am sorry about not blogging much this month. My computer broke 3 days into my trip so it has been a bit difficult trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to write in my blog. So first of all we had a route change and rather than being in Bulgaria we are currently in Honduras and in a few days we will be leaving here to go to Guatemala. Anyways I’m going to give you an update on what we have been doing this past month in Honduras. We arrived in Tegucigalpa at a ministry called The Gates of Zion. This ministry is almost like a rehab facility but not exactly.  They work with a group of teenagers from the most dangerous part of the city (Los Pinos), who are addicted to drugs, in gangs, and basically have no future. They help these kids get off of the drugs and out of the gangs by letting them come to live on a property they have in the mountains, where they nurture not only their physical health, but their emotional and spiritual health as well. The most interesting thing about this ministry is that the teenagers are free to leave if they wish, but they must choose if they want to return to their old lives or if they want to continue on with their new lives. This ministry also works the most dangerous section of Los Pinos and ministers to the families of these kids, so they are completely invested in these kid’s lives. They also work with several other ministries around the city, and we have been able to get to see and participate in what God is doing in Honduras. So here is how our schedule has been broken down the past few weeks. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we are on the property trying to fix it up and make it look nicer. On Thursdays we go to IHNFA which is a program that takes girls off the street who are considered a danger to themselves or society and gives them a safe place to live and attend school. On Fridays we do what is called taking it to the streets, which is where we make signs such as, Jesus loves you, God bless, etc. and we literally stand at an intersection in front of the mall and love on the people walking and driving past us. It has been a really cool experience to see how such a small thing can change someone’s mood. Love is such a powerful thing! Then on Saturdays we go to a church and minister with them and have church. Finally Sundays are our days off so we are free to do whatever we would like during the day. Then on Sunday nights we have church here on the property, our squad runs worship and then one of the teenagers preaches the message that night. It is incredible to see how God has revealed himself to these teenagers and how full of love and joy they are considering their pasts. This ministry is doing amazing things in Honduras. We have also gone into the city dump and served food and loved on the people there. Then we have gone into Los Pinos, where the boys are from, and ministered to their families. Anyways that is a breakdown of what we have been doing here in Honduras this month. I’m excited to see what the next 10 months has to offer!
