Guatemala….. What can I say about this beautiful country…. It is my birth country, however, it is no longer the country I consider home. The reason why I felt led to choose this route on the race, was because it had Guatemala and other Central American countries that I felt the Lord wanted me to go to them and serve!

Guatemala was our last country in Central America before we headed out to Asia, and I wanted to serve it with all my heart and give it my all, but little did I know, that God had amazing plans from that country to me. Guatemala was a month full of personal redemption!

This month I worked with Nueva Generacion in Antigua with our awesome host Luis Carlos. We thought Christian values classes in various schools around Antigua and in other surrounding areas. It was a blessing to be in those schools and remind them of values, but values based on God, values that will help them forever. And being in those classrooms, I tried picturing how my life would’ve been if I had stayed in Guatemala? Would I had been one of those students? Would I have the kind of life that I now have in Christ? It made me reflect a lot, and it made me thankful for my dad’s decision to bring us to the States at such young age because he allowed more opportunities to come into my life because of it. And being in those classrooms, God allowed me to pray over them and for them, praying that they too can have many opportunities in life to advance and do good and get to know God so they too can be a blessing to their birth country.

Part of my redemption was God allowing me to see my family, see my beautiful grandma and visit her with some of my team mates and show her God’s love through our testimony. Redemption comes in many forms. And for me, it came mainly through the love I was able to give to some of my family members who many not necessarily deserve my love because of past hurts, but I was able to see them through God’s eyes and than be able to provide them a true love, a love that is pure and can only come from God.

In the end, I feel as if God had much more bigger plans for Guatemala to serve and bless me, than me bless the country as I served it. I enjoyed being there, I enjoyed serving it, and I loved the redemltion process that I went through in this beautiful country!

Until next time Guatemala!!
