Joe Slovo…A Refugee Camp…The Poorest of the Poor……In need of Jesus!
As we (Eric, Gina, Brooke, & I) walk through the dirt streets of Joe Slovo we come across many who may or may not know Him. Many have heard His name and know what He did, but they don’t know why. They don’t know what that means for them. They don’t know how to receive what He offers. Some don’t even know He has offered this abundant life to them. They pray to God but don’t know His Son…
As we walk through the dirt streets of Joe Slovo we pray for many. We tell them about Him and what that means for them. He is their provider, comforter, savior, redeemer, friend, and father. Our new friends, Rejoice & Queen, say they know Him but can’t tell us their story or what that means for their life. Another woman says she has heard of Him and accepted Him but cannot recall her story or His story.
Three men sitting on a stoop listening to what they call Gospel music, but when asked if they have heard of Jesus they say “NO!” An answer that shocked my ears. Never have I heard someone say “No!” to that question. Eric takes a seat to tell them His story from Adam and Eve to Jesus’ life on earth to our place in His plan today. Johnny is eagerly ready to receive Jesus as his Savior. Jacob says he wants to know Him but has many questions. Alfredo leaves in the middle of the story, but is replaced by Phillip. Phillip prays to God for a job everyday but does not know Jesus. After many questions answered and problems discussed all three men pray to receive Jesus as Lord of their lives’.
We have three new brothers…let the angels rejoice…PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!
Now they know…Jesus lives…loves them…died for them…won the battle…redeems their sins…provides for them…gives abundant life…enables eternal life in heaven…creates a community of believer’s…and on and on!
Pray…
Phillip is blessed with a job and comes to know Jesus more intimately as He follows Him without hesitation.
Johnny’s eagerness to receive Christ flourishes into knowledge of and relationship with Jesus.
Jacob finds answers to his questions and peace to know God has not lost control of His creation.
Rejoice & Queen decide to increase in knowledge of the Lord together as sisters in Christ.
Now they know Him…
My life is radically changed because they did not know Him…
Lord, take me to those that do not You…
