Welcome to my crazy adventure! I can’t believe that this is actually happening and that within four months this awesome trip will be a reality, what an incredible God we serve!

I only discovered The World Race within the last month and even though I told myself that it was ridiculous to seriously consider a trip that would involve an 11 month commitment, I could not get it off of my mind.

You see as impulsive and irrational as it sounded, the timing was actually quite perfect. And not until I sat back and looked at where I am in my life right now could I see the path that God has been bringing me on right to this point.

I have always loved to travel, but never thought much of doing work on the mission field until a year and a half ago when I went with my church for the first time to Sierra Leone and served a local church ministry by helping with a summer VBS program for the children there.

I had so much head knowledge become heart knowledge on that trip.

I knew that running water and electricity were enormous blessings, but I did not truly appreciate them until I experienced African heat without air conditioning and the necessity of dripping water into a bucket to take a bath!

I knew that there were places in the world where people lived without clean water, in mud huts with dirt floors; but until I was privileged enough to walk through villages like this and meet the people who lived in them, to hear their stories and see the pure joy they lived in each day simply because they knew who Jesus was, only then did I truly realize the unifying power of Christ. I knew that there were Christians in countries all over the world and yet I thought that my nationality would somehow interfere with being able to connect with people in Africa simply because they were not American.  It is not WHO we are, but WHOSE we are : )

When head knowledge becomes heart knowledge it is powerful.

I was blessed enough to be able to return to Sierra Leone this past spring again, and also to travel to Israel and Ireland for missions in the past year and a half. Little did I know at the time of that first trip what God was preparing me for! I know I would never have looked twice at a trip like this if I had not stepped out and gone to serve in other countries before

I look forward to sharing so many things about this trip with you and I am so excited to see what God has planned for me and my team!
