For the past five days I have been a counselor for a group of high school girls at youth camp with my church. Now, when I was went to youth camp as a student, we stayed in cabins that were bug-infested and hot. In 2010 however, THIS youth camp was held at a fancy resort in Myrtle Beach, SC. Kind of a different atmosphere…haha. I’d like to begin with a little bit of honesty. I really didn’t want to go to this camp. I was having a nice time relaxing at home and getting the last minute details for the Race taken care of. And honestly, I really didn’t feel like I had much “spiritual wisdom” to offer to these girls. Buuuut I knew they needed female counselors, so I decided to go. And man, did God SHOW UP!
I most definitely had the BEST group of girls. They totally kept me on my toes all week with all of these crazy, ridiculously deep questions like, “Why do bad things happen when a good God is in control?” and, “If we are such a tiny part of a tremendous galaxy, is it possible that other ‘earths’ exist?” I mean, I was pretty much on my face asking the Lord for scripture, guidance, and answers to these questions. But honestly, He had already given the answers to me. Basically everything that I have been reading, studying, and the people I have been learning from has prepared me to answer questions like these. It was really great practice for the Race, knowing that God is really using me as a vessel to proclaim his truth when times are tough. It was basically a week of amazing worship, seeing how great God is, meeting some phenom girls, and God letting me know again that I am exactly where He wants me to be; which is a great feeling! So thank you RUSH camp girls of room 1005 for being totally rad this year and rockin’ out the small group sessions! You guys are going to kick it in college!!
