“We have three rules. We eat promptly at 6:00 p.m. We watch ‘The Wheel’ at 7:00 p.m. And lastly, this is the one that embarrasses Jess, boys and girls do NOT sleep in the same room.”
-Dram
These are the rules that we have to abide by when we pay a visit to my grandma, formally known as Dram, in the tiny town of Brevard, North Carolina. Reminiscing on the you-can’t-make-this-stuff-up stories such as road trips to Dram’s cabin led the stragglers of my going away party camped out on the couch, biding our last few hours together.
I once told someone that if you were to line up my friends and compare them to their’s, mine would win in a test of amazingness. I stand firmly behind this statement. It might sound a little snooty, but after being surrounded by so many people who support me in such unique ways, I can’t help but feel blessed and so undeserving of this love, that I have to say that I, in fact, have the best friend in the world. Try me; they will win.
Today was a combination of extreme joy, to extreme sorrow. Extreme excitement, to extreme surprise. Thank you so much to everyone who was a part of today. Your support and love for me is so uniquely designed and administered in my life, I can’t help but stand in awe of our Creator. He’s been directing our story, and orchestrating each one of us to stand by one other in good and perfect love. Thank you for being a part of my World Race story, but most importantly, a part of my life. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to truly be able to convey how thankful I am for each of you in my life.
As Dram would say, “Jess, you have the sweetest girlfriends. And your male friends are very attractive.”
Not too philosophical, but it gets the point across if you know Dram.
