So its Friday afternoon, and I’ve been home from training camp since Sunday. It has taken me this long to figure out how to describe what the 9 days of training camp entailed, and here I am sitting in Chickfila, still trying to figure out words post online. (I almost said, “words to put on paper…Michael Scott would’ve been proud). Two overarching themes of training camp were the power of prayer and learning how to live in true community. Oh! And we also met our teams! Here’s the breakdown: there are 76 World Racers leaving in July to travel to Haiti. Those 76 racers are divided up into groups 6-7, which are called our teams. Our teams are the people who we will live, eat, sleep, and do day to day ministry with. At the end of every month, all 76 racers will convene together for a couple day debrief and community time! So I will still see all of them every month, which gets me excited for the stellar dance parties to come…

So more exciting news…we found out our teams! Yeah! My team basically rocks. Here is a quick breakdown of my team and their jobs/prayer needs this year:

Joshua Maisner: Team Leader! He just graduated from Belmont University and loves to watch Glee and sing show tunes. (I’m sure he LOVES me posting this). Joshua is going to be a phemon leader and has already claimed the role of resident ‘dad’ of our team. He also started a non-profit. No big deal.

Leslie Medrano: Finances person! Leslie will be in charge of keeping track of all of our support accounts and distributing the money out as we travel. Leslie is also an interior designer and will be arranging the inside or all of our tents. Please pray for organization (with money as well as decorating 😉 skills and that she won’t get tired out!

Carrie Miranda- Carrie is originally from Upstate New York but has lived in Hawaii for the past four years. :::Feel the breeze and calmness:::She is a massage therapist…can you say yes please!?!? Please pray for her in this next month as she ties up the last few details, and that she won’t get tired from massaging her teammates for 11 months. And pray that she will be able to keep our team at the center on ‘OM’…haha jk 😉 Every time I think of her I instantly feel peaceful!

Colby Gardner- Wow. I really don’t know what to say about Colby! He is a Texas-born, country boy, and has the biggest heart for the Lord and loving people. He has so much love to give that I think he will explode if he doesn’t share it! Please pray for Colby as he finishes out his year teaching and prepares to leave. Colby was a football, track, and power-lifting coach. He will be in charge of keeping our team physically fit. Ye-haw!

Seth and April Blackburn- I’m really excited to see a married couple rock it out this year on the Race. Go marriages! Please pray for them in particular; they still have a lot of support to raise. If they don’t have $10,000 in their account by July they can’t go! If you feel lead to support them financially, you can here: http://www.sethandaprilblackburn.theworldrace.org/

Here we are!! Training camp part deux to come…
