Shoot, guys I’m in Thailand. I don’t even know where to start, so many things and emotions have been experienced in these past 11 days that I wish I could sit down with your over coffee and tell you, and it is only the beginning.
First, let’s just take a second to celebrate that one of my closest friends in college got married literally the day before I got on a plane to leave the country for a year. How cool is it that God allowed time to celebrate the love and life of a friend who encouraged, supported, and challenged me all through college and gave me the courage to be a part of the journey I’m on now. All I’m saying is He is Good the way He orchestrates things.
Second it took a good 38 hours to travel all the way from Orange, Cali to Chiang Mai, Thailand. That’s a whole lot of sitting and waiting, and traveling. But through my travels I got to experience God provide for me every single time I asked a specific prayer request. My God is a God of loving to provide for His children and boy did He go above and beyond. I asked to be able to sleep while traveling and he gave me an open seat next to me, in a very crowded plane, to curl up in a ball to sleep for 15 hours. I asked for intentional conversation on the 10 hour bus ride to Chiang Mai and I got to know one of my squad mates better through good conversation. As we are adjusting to our new homes God has given us a hostel with good beds and hot showers this month, something I had made peace with leaving behind for eleven months. I was feeling overwhelmed with so many new people to focus on and I asked for some time to slow down and our team was given a free afternoon to explore the city. I got to grab coffee with two girls on my team, and it was filled with time to catch my breathe.
After arriving in Thailand we had training camp for five days Training camp= teachings, eating eggs and rice out of one bowl, camping, breaking camp down every morning at 6:45, and basically living in paradise while only being able to take one shower all week.
In order to pass training camp we had to carry all of our bags a mile.
On our first day off we went to Sticky falls and spent the day climbing up and down the falls.
We finally got our team!! introducing: Meraki-the heart and soul behind what you do.
My team and I will be starting our ministry work on Thursday and we are anxious to get started. Thank you for all of your prayers and support, I cannot wait to update you guys on how our first week goes!
