I’m 24, born and raised in Texas, most recently Austin. I love to create and look at all things creative. I love coffee. I love talking to people over coffee. I love reading, books of any kind, crossword puzzles, knitting, Cubs Baseball, beat poetry, ellipses, traveling, flying on airplanes, driving across the country with good friends and good tunes, taking pictures, eating good food, screen printing, oil painting, popcorn, rain showers, long naps and trees. I was raised in a Christian home and came to know the Lord at a young age through the influence of my parents. My family is a huge part of my life and they are my biggest supporters.
I graduated May of 2006 from Oklahoma Baptist University, where I learned about the greatness of the Lord and that knowledge and learning are important. Attending OBU changed my life by opening my eyes to the world and the actions that are needed. I am blessed to be called to a career in nursing, which allows me to do this on a daily basis. I work in Austin, TX with local pediatric oncology patients and I love it. The children are wonderful and make every night’s work worth every heartache and tear.
But the world is too big and my heart too full of adventure for me to stay in one place for too long…
For months a change has been in the air. I have known that I would find myself in a challenging and amazing experience doing work for the Lord, I was just completely unsure of what that would truly look like.
I am amazed at the immense and overwhelming goodness of the Lord and the surprising and faithful way he answers prayer! I have been eager to travel and change lives for years, since eighth grade when I realized the Lord had large plans for me as a minister of his word. While the picture of this has changed dramatically for me over the last decade, I still long to be able to fulfill the will of the Lord, make people’s lives better and do my part to change the world.
So with an excited soul and faithful steps I am preparing for what I can only assume will be the best, and most difficult journey of my life. I am eager to see the Lord move in new and amazing ways during this excursion.
