One of my favorite experiences in Antigua is wandering the city’s Mercado. From produce, to toilet paper, to dishes, to fabric, if you need it you can find it in the mercado. The aisles are narrow, the colors overwhelming, and at any given moment half a dozen people are shouting “te buscan?” (what are you looking for?) at you as you pass by their booth. It is an exciting adventure everytime you step foot in the huge expanse (literally, HUGE. I don’t think I have found the back of the mercado…) and a wonderful experience of culture. Below are photos from an afternoon spent in the mercado to buy groceries for the team dinner.
