I can’t believe we have less than a week left with our hosts in Vietnam! This month has flown by faster than any other. I absolutely love pictures so here’s a few that give a snapshot of our time so far here in Vietnam…
Welcome to the beautiful home we’ve had the privelage to stay in this month. Our hosts are a young newly married couple with huge servant hearts and their first baby on the way!
This is what a typical Vietnam church service has looked like. The top picture is us leading a worship song and then a kids program after!
Flexibility: more than doing the splits. An imperative thing I have had to learn on the race. Sometimes the power goes out for 30 hours. So, you teach English by candle light. But hey, that also means you get to have a candle lit dinner with your team followed by some dancing with headlamps on (no photo evidence of that thankfully).
Every week we get to share a short lesson with a sweet group of young people and then play a game of soccer with them!
One of my favorite things to do this month has been to teach English to pastors. Twice a week we have had the privelage to do this using the classroom attatched to our hosts home. Most of the pastors don’t have a formal education but still choose to step out in leadership for their local congregations. Their courage and dedication paired with their willingness to learn is really amazing.
On our adventure day 9 of us crammed into a 7 person vehicle we named the whale and we traveled about 4 hours to Da Nang. We got to swim in the South China Sea, eat at an italian restaurant, and even see Beauty and the Beast! I think God knew we were all missing home a little.
Here is the end product of teaming up with some people we met and packing about 400 care packages of noodles and milk for underprivelaged children and blankets to be delivered to the elderly.
Meet Twee! She is playful, giggly, and very intelligent. She made this paper crane after watching me fold mine just once! I have thoroughly enjoyed our coffee shop chats, hearing about her dreams, and her contagious smile.
Puppies/various animals all over the place = something I could get used to!!!
These girls inspire and encourage me daily. They are teaching me what friendship looks like and man, can they make me laugh. This month has been a huge challenge in many ways. But, through that the Lord has shown me that sometimes the most effective “ministry” we can do is to grow together as the body.
Until next time…
