“Three things will last forever–faith, hope, and love–and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

God has been speaking to me a lot lately about seeing the eternal value in things. Particularly, the lives of children.

When I start to compare our ministry with wild stories from other racers He’s like stop that, don’t you see the opportunity I’ve given you? He reminds me how much the things I experienced as a child and the words people said to me shaped the lens through which I now see the world. Kids are like little sponges; they absorb what they hear even if they don’t say it or show it right away.

Jesus took children’s ministry very seriously during his time on Earth. When the disciples scolded parents for bringing their children to Jesus He replied “let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children” (Matt.19:14). In fact, He went so far as to say “And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me. But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea” (Matt. 18:5-6).

The world race is not always seeing miraculous healings, casting out demons, or preaching powerful sermons that lead many people to Christ. These things are amazing gifts from God, and I hope we will get to experience them over the next 10 months. But, it can also look like sitting in a corner talking to the kid who looks sad, singing the hippo song for the third time in a row, belly laughing during a water balloon fight, or listening to a little boy tell you his story. And now, instead of seeing these things as meaningless, I can see them as having eternal significance.

Please keep Jireh Children’s Home in your prayers. Please pray that each sweet child here will grow up to be a man or woman after Gods own heart overflowing with His love. Please also pray for Morong and Sendmi who so faithfully care for them.

It’s surreal that the first month of the race is coming to an end. I can’t fully put it into words but a video is coming very soon! Until next time…
