If you won the lottery and God told you to give every penny of that $10,000,000 away and not tell a soul would you do it? Or if you clearly heard the Lord tell you to leave everything and go live in a foreign country for the rest of your life working amongst the locals receiving no recognition from the world would you go?
Although these are radical examples, every moment of every day we all have the free will to choose… live for ourselves or for God & His Kingdom. Last night I was up really late journaling about this concept & wondering if I should write a blog about it. So I got really exited this morning when I read my daily devotional verse: Romans 6:5 “If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.”
The good part is, as illustrated in this verse, that in God’s economy death always leads to life.
So, since this is what the Lord put on my heart I want to share with you a picture that I think describes beautifully what it means…
There is so much freedom found in this kind of surrender. It helps me to remember that NOTHING is really mine to begin with. I am just a temporary steward of everything He has given me (this body, the gifts & abilities, time, money, etc.) for a few short years on this earth until it’s time to go home. My prayer is that this (dying to myself) would become a daily reality! & I can confidently declare: “I am crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
