So much change! Haha but really what’s new with the race?
We’ll start with the easiest of them all; the new year! Happy new year! I hope it was great for you all, my team and I celebrated in Bangkok, Thailand! It was great to get together with the whole squad and ring in the new year.
I suppose you’re all also wondering what I did last month in Cambodia too… I didn’t really realize until I talked with my parents after Christmas that I had never posted a blog explaining.
Well, last month my team and I were in Takhmao City, Cambodia. About 20 minutes from Phnom Penh the capital. We were working with a local pastor there named Thyvenn, who had a church consisting of about 30 young people (under the age of 30) and his goal was mostly about teaching and training the young people to go out to start their own churches and evangelize the Cambodian people. Right now Cambodia is an open country but is turning communist and Thyvenn feels it will not stay open much longer so he wants to reach as many people as possible while he can.
We assisted him in this through teaching English and hosting a bible study/VBS in some nearby villages as well as at the church itself. It was an awesome month, being able to build relationships with the young people at the church and hearing some of their stories was very encouraging. I can speak for everyone on my team when I say we were very sad to go.
So then, at the end of the month was not only a new year, but also a new team. Introducing…..
Lumos Dei!!!!!!!!!!!!! (light of God)
Don’t we look great?? We just happened upon this set up on the street… That’s Asia for you.
So the boys are Jacob (plaid and team leader), Brad (blue), and Ben (red). And the girls are Kat (front), Angie (purple blueish), Karen (back), and me 🙂
We have officially been a team for a week and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the race has in store for us all! Already Brad and Kat have brought new perspective and new life to me and the members of my old team that carried over.
And so, you all should know we are in Thailand now, this is the last of our 5 Asian countries and (I know I say this every blog) can you believe this whole thing is 5 months in already?? I feel like I just left home and yet I have officially finished half of the race… So crazy.
This month my new team and I have been assigned to Unsung Heros or UH. This is a new concept that AIM has started implementing with just the past few squads that have been launched. Our goal is to search out new contacts for the world race to send future teams to. Through word of mouth, google ;), and the Lords guidance we have the freedom to travel anywhere in Thailand to find these people and organizations to partner with. We are not only looking for large organizations to work with but also local pastors and people who may we starting off, or just have a small ministry they felt the Lord lay on their heart. Right now we are still working in Bangkok visiting churches and ministries hoping for new contacts or at least more leads.
As for what the rest of the month holds for us, only God knows. 🙂 We are merely his foot soldiers, going out and doing his will, listening for where he commands us to go.
If any of you know of missionaries, organizations, or pastors here in Thailand please send me their information so that we can contact them during this month. [email protected]
Prayer requests are of course that we would have clear direction this month, an ear for his voice, and no fear. Funding for my teammates and I. I personally still need about $1400 to be fully funded. Thank you all for your prayers and support so far!
