Hello from Cambodia!
I just wanted to give you all a quick update of how our last month in Vietnam went and what we’ll be doing here in Cambodia during December.
First off, holy moly, can you believe we’re already starting month 4?? Time is going WAY too quickly. I remember thinking when our route changed to 5 Asian countries instead of just 4 that we would be stuck in Asia forever! Now, I’m sad thinking that we are in our last two months. Just goes to show nothing is ever as big as we feel it is. Anyway, back to Vietnam and the present.
By far Vietnam has been my absolute favourite country to work in. My team and I were working at a coffee shop in Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon. The coffee shop’s main purpose was to allow people to come speak with native English speakers in order to improve their own. So our job while there was to, of course, speak. During our speaking shifts we were able to get to know so many people and eventually spend time with them outside of the coffee shop and become ‘real’ friends.
Through building relationships we were able to share our beliefs and what The Lord has done in our lives. Although it is a slow process we were able to see the fruit of our contacts and past teams who have worked there as well. It was a good reminder that God works in His own time and our job is sometimes just as simple as planting seeds we might never see the fruit of, but that someone else has the opportunity to see. I will miss all of my Vietnamese friends so so much as we continue on in our race, but as sad as it is I have faith that the time we were given was truly what was best and that God’s time is perfect.
And so Cambodia… My team and I are going to be working in Phnom Penh at a ministry called The Rock Foundation. While there we will be working in a number of different areas including teaching English, helping plant (maybe?) a mango farm, some construction, and evangelism in the villages. We will have a lot of options and opportunities working with this organization and so I am excited to see what happens!
Thanks again for all your prayers and support throughout my journey so far. It means so much to have people back home routing for you! A few prayer requests from my team and I are; funding for all but one of us (she is fully funded already ). In general we all need between $1800 and $7000 to be fully funded. I am personally in need of $1800. Our final deadline is March 2014, please be praying for God’s provision. Also health, you just never know with this crazy food 😉 Also more unity as a squad, at the end of this month our squad leaders will be going home and new ones will be raised up from within the squad. That means team changed will soon be here! Please be praying for the leadership to have wisdom and discernment when choosing who will replace them.
Thanks again! More blogs to come soon! (In honour of Christmas my goal is to post three this month… also because I haven’t done well with posting them the past couple months)
