this blog is a little late due to internet access of course, so here is a bathroom tale from Guatemala. Enjoy!!
In preparation for the World Race we knew from other racers we will eventually run into bathroom trouble. Just didn't think this would happen so soon.
As you know we have been teaching at Escuela de la Milenia in the mountains, we had taught for the day so we were waiting to be picked up at the store. All of sudden Jen from Team Aletheia felt a rumble in her stomach, so she asked everyone if anyone needed to go the bathroom. Of course yours truly had a bathroom emergency too.
We asked if there was a bathroom at the store and there wasn't, so the nearest was at the school and I wasn't going back up the mountains to use the squatty potty up at the clinic. That was a nightmare in itself. We decided to head to the school to use the bathroom trying to get there as quick as possible. You all know that feeling.

When we got there it was deserted so we looked around and came across two cleaning ladies and now remember my Spanish is weak so I was relieve Jen was with me. We went to the stalls and notice the doors were locked with pad locks. Jen went to ask the cleaning the ladies if we could use them, and they didn't have the keys to the bathrooms.
We had a freak out moment, like what do we do? I was ready to go in the bushes and Jen was ready to go in her pants. I suggested we climb over the stalls, so i gave Jen a boost. I did have toilet paper on the go so i slid under the door to Jen. I went to the stall and climbed over to do what I had to do.
the stall i had to climb over, pretty fun!!
Jen was finished and she needed to get back out of the stall. Now she is about four feet and eleven inches so It was quite a drop on own. She got to top of the door and got stuck and asked if I was almost finished because she needed help down. I responded, " be done in second" with a laugh. So she had to hang on top of the door for a few minutes while I finished.
So now it was my turn to get out. Being tall as I am, I had a dilemma getting out of a hole the size of a drive thru window. At first I couldn't get out so I attempted the back of the stall and still couldn't get out. So i went over to the stall to the right of me because it was just a little bit bigger to squeeze my legs through. I finally got out with a few scrapes and then went over to help Jen out.
The rest of our group drove up at that point, and we told them about what happened, they thought it was funny we experienced our first bathroom emergency on the World Race. In these kind of situations really stretches your comfortability and you have to learn to laugh about it. We also got to experience World Race team work to feel relief. Hope this story has made you laugh as much as it did us, to future World Racers, bathroom emergencies are coming.
thanks for reading, blessings from Honduras
