Halfway Through Q&A’s

One of my best supporters since I been gone has been my little sister in Christ, Akira Marie. She been following my journey from the very beginning until now. I appreciate so much anytime I check my e-mail and she has written to update me in her life and things back home. She doesn’t know how much she makes me smile and laugh with her awesome e-mails. One of the coolest parts of each email are the random questions at the end. Now that I’m at the halfway point of the Race, I’m going to take the liberty of answering her questions and posting them.

What’s the weirdest things you have done so far?

Weirdest…you know that term at the beginning of the Race can meant something totally different than it does in month 6.   It refers to something that you are not really familiar or comfortable with. At this point, there are a lot of things that I’ve become familiar and comfortable with. With that being said, one thing that’s still slightly weird for sure is the crowded nature of public transportation in some countries. You can be standing in the middle of the bus and be touching eight different people at the same time. Bubble space absolutely burst and crushed, haha.

What’s been your favorite new food so far? Worst?

Pad Thai! I know they have that in the U.S. but I’ve never had it, so what better place than Thailand to try it? Also, in Guatemala, I had this thing called ‘Torta de alverja con albondiga,’ which is like a meat loaf filled with green peas and chunks of meatballs inside. Yummm just delicious. Jamaican Flower juice was great through Central America. So far in Southeast Asia there have been a lot of great tasty fruits!

What’s been your most unforgettable moment?

One of the most unforgettable moment by far is visiting the city dump in Guatemala. It was so soul-impacting watching families and their children scavenging to support their lives in a city waste. It was a moment that will never leave my mind. I pray that God will continue feeding them, not just their stomachs but also their souls. Also that God will continue guiding and providing the necessary strength to the people at The Street Revolution so they can continue their wonderful ministry.

Who was the most inspirational person you have met so far?

All my wonderful contacts and hosts are inspirational. The Aragón family, with their incredible story about how far they have come to spread the words and love of God in their community despite being consistently challenged and tempted by the enemy to quit. They truly live the life of Philippians 4:13. Also, Ever in Honduras in how he dedicated himself to get educated and progress despite the hardships and not having the means necessary growing up. Now he takes all the blessings God has given Him through his adoptive parents Darelle and Darlene to bless and help his community progress. In Costa   Rica there’s this awesome guy named George. George was formerly a guy from the streets. Homeless, drug consumer, asking people for money all the time, robbing people and in jail for some time. One day the awesome Holy light of Christ shone before his eyes and soul and totally changed him. Now he is assisting and helping his former homeless friends in the hope they will also turn their life around and see the light of Jesus Christ.

Have you learned any new words in other languages?

Tuanis – “Cool” slang of surfers in Costa Rica

Sa-Wa-Dee-Krap (male) Sa-Wa-De-Kap (female) – Proper “Hello” in Thailand

Cup-chai – “Thank you” in Laos

It’s been an amazing journey thus far. I am really thankful to God for the opportunity to be part of this and thankful for my supporters. Without all of you this journey wouldn’t have been the same. Thank you all.

God Bless.
